Women who think they're in the mood for soda are most likely hungry or looking for carbonated beverages. Instead of drinking artificially flavored sodas, Koff recommends having apple slices with a few peanut butter or caffeinated tea with a number of nuts.

For those who prefer bubbly beverages to snacks, create a seltzer and juice beverage in your own home.

"This makes for a nice carbonated drink," Palinski-Wade said. "Your best option is to avoid diet and regular [sodas all together]."

Quit snapping gum

Sugar-free chewing gums contain chemicals that trick our bodies into believing they're ingesting nutrition.

"When we chew, our mouth will water. That release of saliva will think you're ready to eat. Your body is smart and will get irritated," Koff said, noting that lots of her clients often complain of stomach bloat from gum.

Drink more water or chew instead on vegetables, said Koff.

"Significant gum-chewers are chewing as opposed to h2o," Koff said. "Make sure you aren't gum in place of [it]."

Along with chewing instead of drinking, Palinski-Wade said female gum-chewers gulp more air than anticipated because of breathing patterns.

"The way you're chewing, you may be swallowing more air than you understand," Palinski-Wade said. "I would try to eliminate gum."

Both women agreed that staying hydrated helps curb addictions.

Go green, go fish

According to a recent Harvard study, consuming red meats may cause swelling in women.

"The quality of the items we're eating will affect whether your body is inflamed. I will locate a cow which has been eating what it's supposed to; that is not given antibiotics or hormones," Koff said. "Pay focus on the quality and also the quantity of these animals."
